Copello have partnered with a leading Defence and Maritime business who are in the recruitment for a Skills Devlopment Coach with a mechancial engineering backgroud. 

This role will give you the opportunity to help shape the apprenticeship programme as well as delivering/teaching for the level 2 and level 3 maritime defence qualification. 

The role is offering a salary up to £42k + bonus and is based on-site in Portsmouth. 

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Instructor will involve: 

  • Delivering the teaching for the Level 2 and 3 Maritime Defence (Knowledge and Competence) Qualification. (Theory and Practical subjects you will deliver depends on prior experience but could include but not limited to Mechanical Assembly and Maintenance, Hydraulic, Health & Safety, Engineering Principles, Maths and Science and Business Improvement Techniques)
  • Utilising technology to develop the theory and practical based lessons which meet the mandated qualifications of Level 2 and 3 Engineering Technician Apprenticeship Standard.
  • Coaching apprentices to reach their full potential by providing key support, mentoring, challenge and motivation throughout all aspects of their learning journey
  • Monitoring and providing developmental feedback to apprentices to assist in the identification of “readiness” for end point assessment
  • Taking professional pride in their role and embrace continuous professional development opportunities in support of delivering innovative and impactful teaching, learning and assessment
  • Developing apprentices that are innovative thinkers and creative problem solvers, through the design and delivery of learning content as part of a blended learning pedagogy focused on delivering vocational excellence
  • Assessing and monitoring learner progress & performance in line with the apprenticeship standards and the occupational expectations of the business. Maintain and record data in accordance with the awarding organisations and auditing bodies.

The ideal candidate will also have the following skills and experience: 

Essential:

·        Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering qualification

·        Skilled engineering professional with recognisable occupational competence within Mechanical Engineering

Desirable:

·        Industrial mechanical maritime experience would be highly desirable

·        Training & Development qualifications NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

·        Assessor Award qualification and Verifier Award
