Data Migration Lead
Inside IR35 – 6 months – Bristol (2/3 days p/week on site)

We are looking for an experienced Data Migration Lead to ensure that data from legacy systems for our client in the Public Sector is accurately, securely, and efficiently transferred to the new ERP environment.

Strategy & Planning
  • Develop the overall data migration strategy, including approach, scope, timelines, and resource requirements.
  • Create a migration roadmap aligned with the implementation phases
Data Mapping & Design
  • Lead the data mapping process: source-to-target mapping between legacy systems and the ERP.
  • Design and review data migration templates and tools for extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
Data Extraction, Transformation & Loading (ETL)
  • Coordinate ETL activities, ensuring correct and timely data handling.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to build or configure migration scripts/tools.
Data Quality & Cleansing
  • Work with business users to identify and resolve data quality issues in legacy systems.
  • Implement data cleansing initiatives, ensuring only reliable and relevant data is migrated.
Testing & Validation
  • Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT) related to migrated data.
  • Ensure reconciliation reports are accurate and discrepancies are addressed.
Post-Migration Support
  • Monitor data-related issues in early adoption
  • Document lessons learned and finalise data migration audit trails.

Essential
  • Experience of leading a large-scale corporate data cleansing and migration exercise.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.

Desired
  • Knowledge of MoD Functional Processes, Data and/or Systems
  • Knowledge of Defence Business Services Operations
