Draughtsperson – Mechanical Design

Copello are working with a defence client who are looking for a Draughtsperson to join their Mechanical Design team who are responsible for designing, developing and supporting a portfolio of aerospace products for military and civilian applications.
This role is ideally suited to an organised, proactive, and self-motivated individual with a methodical approach to maintaining engineering product design documentation.
In this role you will support, legacy and development of current and next generation products. Using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).

In this role you will support, legacy and development of current and next generation products. Using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
Key responsibilities
- Modification of new and existing products using 3D CAD (SolidWorks) & 2D (AutoCAD).
- Checking/authoring/implementing (CR/CO) design changes, specifications and other data related to product build standard.
- Ability to evaluate/consider the impact of changes on product whilst considering cost (UPC) and maintenance requirements of products.
- Consider the effect of changes (CR/CO) to product conformance with performance specifications.
- Undertake basic tolerance analysis of design changes (a good understanding of inspection metrology methods, GD&T and standard tolerance methods are beneficial).
- Collaborate with other engineers and departments to implement changes.
- Assist in investigations of product failures.
- Provide support to manufacturing.
- Produce/modify detailed drawings for component manufacture and product assembly. This will include piece part, assembly, family tree, installation drawings and data sheets.
- Generation and management of parts lists and BOMs.
Qualifications
- Degree, HNC/HND or OND/ONC in Mechanical Engineering or similar (experience will also be considered).
- Experience working in mechanical Design office beneficial.
- Experience working in a highly regulated industry beneficial (Aerospace, Defence, Medical, Nuclear).
- Experience of implementing mechanical design solutions through Life Cycle Management process.
- This role could be a good first placement in industry or suit a seasoned draftsperson.
