Category Manager
18 month contract – Inside IR35 – Hybrid (London/Reading)


Role Overview
We’re looking for a hands-on Category Manager with a strong background in major infrastructure projects to lead pre-contract procurement activities. This role is ideal for someone with deep knowledge of NEC contracts, public sector procurement, and stakeholder engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead procurement for complex infrastructure projects.
  • Develop and implement category and sourcing strategies.
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across technical and commercial teams.
  • Prepare and manage tender documentation in line with public sector regulations.
  • Support contract negotiations and supplier onboarding.

Essential Criteria
  • 5+ years’ experience in construction/infrastructure procurement.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Experience in regulated procurement (public sector preferred).
  • Pre-contract and strategy development expertise.
  • SC clearance or eligibility.
  • Proficient with procurement tools (e.g., Oracle Fusion or similar).
  • Strong stakeholder management and delivery focus.

Desirable
  • Current Category Manager in a large procurement environment.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion or similar platforms.
  • CIPS or RICS qualified.
  • Broader public sector experience.
