Job Title - Lead RF Systems Engineer
Location – Portsmouth, hybrid working 3 days a week on site.
Salary – c£80,000 DoE plus package.

Copello are partnering with a leading defence engineering business to recruit for a Lead RF Systems Engineer to join their growing engineering function, supporting the development of next-generation RF sensor technologies.
The Role:
As a Lead RF Systems Engineer, you will take technical ownership for the integration and development of complex RF sensor suites, ensuring interoperability across a range of advanced systems. This role will see you working at the forefront of technology, architecting solutions where multiple RF sensors must operate in close proximity within demanding and complex electromagnetic environments.
You will provide expert-level technical leadership across multidisciplinary teams, ensuring alignment between systems and sub-systems, delivering robust and innovative solutions from concept through to delivery. Your role will involve applying the principles of systems engineering (ISO 15288) to resolve complex challenges, delivering solutions that meet technical, programme and customer objectives.

Key Skills & Experience:
- Expert-level knowledge of RF systems, particularly in areas such as AESA Radar, Combat Management Systems, advanced sensors, and sensor-effector interoperability
- Strong understanding of how RF performance is impacted by real-world operational and environmental factors
- Proven track record of leading complex engineering programmes using systems thinking principles
- Experience managing and delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary engineering projects
- Highly skilled in communicating complex technical concepts clearly to varied audiences
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with an ability to drive innovation and technical excellence
- Degree qualified (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in a relevant STEM discipline or equivalent professional experience
