Manufacturing Engineer- Lean and Continuous Improvement

Defence & Advanced Engineering | Permanent
Romsey, Hampshire

I’m recruiting on behalf of a specialist defence technology client that’s tackling complex, real-world challenges where quality, pace and precision really matter.
This is a hands-on role for a Continuous Improvement professional who enjoys getting close to operations, driving meaningful change, and embedding Lean thinking across engineering and production environments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading Lean and Continuous Improvement initiatives that improve flow, quality, cost and delivery
  • Solving complex operational problems using tools such as DMAIC, 8D, RCA and PSP
  • Coaching teams in Lean Six Sigma methods and building a strong CI culture
  • Supporting electronics and hardware assembly and test processes
  • Driving root cause analysis and resolution of non-conformances
  • Working closely with operations, engineering and supply chain teams to deliver sustainable improvements

What they’re looking for

  • Degree-qualified engineer or equivalent experience
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Strong background in Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement
  • Experience in electro-mechanical or electronics assembly and test environments
  • Confident leading change and influencing cross-functional teams
  • Practical knowledge of MRP systems (IFS beneficial, not essential)
Why consider it?
  • Work on high-impact defence and national security programmes
  • Join a technically driven, collaborative environment where improvement is genuinely valued
  • Competitive salary and flexible benefits package
  • A culture that supports innovation, inclusion and continuous learning

If you’re motivated by improving how things are done — not just maintaining the status quo — this is a great opportunity to make a real difference.
