The Opportunity:
Due to continued growth, our client is seeking a highly skilled and methodical Electronics Manufacturing Test Engineer to join their Circuit Card Assembly team. In this critical role, you will specialise in diagnosing faults on PCB assemblies down to component level.
Your expertise will be essential in identifying root causes of failure, producing detailed technical reports, and supporting corrective actions to improve production yield and ensure programme targets are achieved.
You will work within a small, dedicated team of engineers in a fast-paced yet supportive environment. The team includes apprentices, graduates and highly experienced engineers, all focused on delivering technical excellence across multiple complex systems in both development and production phases.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Technical Root Cause Analysis: Diagnose faults to component level on analogue and digital PCB assemblies using a range of automated and manual test equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators).
-
Test Specification & Instruction Generation: Support the introduction of new test facilities by generating test specifications, creating operator instructions and maintaining configuration control.
-
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a key technical interface, working closely with Manufacturing, Quality, Process and Design Engineers to resolve technical challenges and drive continuous improvement.
-
Design & Development Support: Provide test engineering input from early concept stages through to Production Readiness Reviews, ensuring robust and efficient test solutions are implemented.
What we’re looking for:
Qualifications (one of the following):
-
Formal technical Engineering/Craft Apprenticeship to NVQ Level 3/TR23/TR21 and
Formal further education to Level 4 (HNC or equivalent in a relevant discipline)
OR -
BEng/BSc in a relevant Engineering or Technical discipline
Experience & Skills:
-
Strong theoretical and practical understanding of electronic measurement, test principles and fault diagnosis techniques for electronic sub-assemblies and PCBs
-
Proven experience diagnosing faults to component level
-
Ability to interpret detailed schematics, drawings and test documentation
-
Hands-on experience using manual and automated test equipment, ideally within a defence or other high-reliability manufacturing environment
-
Familiarity with ERP, MES and PLM systems (e.g. SAP) for logging test activity and raising non-conformance reports
-
Experience with RF-based circuitry (desirable but not essential)
If you are a driven Manufacturing Test Engineer looking to join a collaborative and technically demanding environment where you can make a measurable impact, Copello would welcome your application.
