Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Glenrothes – 6 months Inside IR35 – BPSS clearance – 37 hours

A leading defence and high‑reliability electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Engineer to support ongoing production, NPI activity, and continuous improvement across multiple manufacturing cells. This role is suited to someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, improving processes, and working closely with cross‑functional engineering teams.

Job Responsibilities
  • Driving improvements in product performance and manufacturing processes, ensuring robust, repeatable, and efficient production.
  • Delivering reporting, analysis, and data‑driven insights to support engineering and operational decision‑making.
  • Providing technical support to internal teams and external customers, helping resolve product or process‑related issues.
  • Supporting innovation and engineering development, contributing to new ideas, methods, and technologies that enhance manufacturing capability.
  • Leading or participating in root cause analysis and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Working closely with manufacturing cells, providing day‑to‑day engineering support to maintain flow, quality, and performance.
  • Contributing to Design for Manufacturability (DFM) activities, NPI readiness, and the development of robust manufacturing processes.
  • Managing and maintaining KPIs, metrics, and operational data, ensuring visibility of performance and opportunities for improvement.
Skills and experience
  • A minimum of an HND or degree in a relevant discipline such as STEM, Production Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of electronics manufacturing, including assembly processes, test, and high‑reliability build standards.
  • Experience in process improvement, efficiency optimisation, and lean manufacturing methodologies.
  • Ability to lead or contribute to PFMEA, Control Plan creation, process flow development, and risk mitigation activities.
  • Familiarity with a range of manufacturing platforms, tools, and production technologies.
  • Confident technical presentation skills, able to communicate complex information clearly to varied audiences.
  • Background in an engineering, manufacturing, or defence environment is highly desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, able to engage effectively at all levels of the organisation.
