Senior Product Test Engineer
Glenrothes - 6 months Inside IR35 – BPSS Required – 37 hours

A leading defence and high‑reliability electronics manufacturer is seeking a Senior Product Test Engineer to support a wide range of complex electronic test activities across production programmes. This role blends hands‑on electronic test engineering with diagnostic expertise, data analysis, and technical leadership, ensuring products meet the highest standards of reliability and performance.
The position is ideal for an experienced electronics professional who enjoys deep technical problem‑solving, working to component level, and supporting the full test lifecycle within a demanding manufacturing environment.

Job Responsibilities
  • Supporting production test activities across a range of high‑reliability electronic products, ensuring robust performance and on‑time delivery.
  • Performing diagnostics, fault‑finding, and debug down to component level, resolving complex issues efficiently.
  • Presenting test data, diagnostic findings, and improvement recommendations to engineering and operational teams.
  • Driving corrective actions and supporting continuous improvement across test processes and product performance.
  • Providing technical mentorship and guidance to diagnostic technicians and junior engineers.
  • Contributing to Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) activities to ensure new products are optimised for efficient testing.
  • Working across a broad range of electronic technologies, supporting both legacy and new product lines.
  • Challenging existing processes, proposing new ideas, and helping shape future test capability.
  • Supporting the full test lifecycle, from requirements definition through to production implementation and ongoing optimisation.


Skills and Experience
  • Qualification in an electronics discipline (HND/Degree or higher).
  • Strong background in product test engineering within defence, aerospace, or other high‑reliability electronics.
  • Proven ability to diagnose, fault‑find, and debug to component level across varied electronic technologies.
  • Experience across the test lifecycle, including data capture, analysis, and presenting findings to engineering teams.
  • Skilled in driving corrective actions and improving test robustness and efficiency.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to mentor diagnostic technicians and support team capability.
  • Familiar with DFM/DFT principles and their application to new and existing products.
  • Comfortable challenging existing processes and contributing new ideas to improve test performance.
