Overview
An exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join a high-performing Weapons & Sensors engineering team, supporting the delivery of complex programmes for UK-based customers.
Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager within the Power Development Team, the role spans the full product lifecycle and involves working within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment using modern digital engineering approaches.

Key Responsibilities
  • Requirements Management: Capture, analyse, and manage system requirements, ensuring they are clearly defined, verifiable, and traceable throughout the lifecycle.
  • System Design: Develop and optimise system architectures and components, balancing performance, cost, size, and other constraints.
  • Interface Management: Manage technical interfaces between subsystems and external systems, ensuring interoperability and performance targets are achieved.
  • Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V): Develop and execute IV&V strategies, ensuring compliance with requirements through structured testing and validation.
  • Product Qualification: Lead certification and qualification activities to ensure systems meet relevant defence/aerospace standards for operational deployment.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including software, electrical, and mechanical engineers, as well as project stakeholders.
  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of system-level issues.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to junior engineers.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience within the defence or aerospace sector.
  • Demonstrated expertise in:
    • Requirements management
    • System design
    • Interface management
    • Integration, Verification & Validation (IV&V)
    • Product qualification
  • Familiarity with relevant defence and/or aerospace standards and regulations.
  • Experience using engineering tools for modelling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Strong technical leadership capability.

Desirable Skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, MBSE methodologies, and MATLAB.
  • Experience leading or managing engineering teams.
