We are looking for Systems Engineer for a 4 month contract in Hampshire.
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer to take ownership of the BCIP Technology Management Plan, supporting a high‑profile defence customer. This role requires strong systems thinking, an understanding of communications systems within the Land Tactical Domain, and the ability to analyse technology change and its impact on capability.
You will work closely with Land RM and wider stakeholders, contributing to Technology Management Steering Groups and producing high‑quality technical outputs.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead ownership of the BCIP Technology Management Plan, understanding BCIP as a communications system‑of‑systems and identifying areas of technology change with potential capability impact.
- Provide support to, and deliver briefings at, regular Technology Management Steering Groups.
- Apply systems engineering principles — particularly systems thinking and systems understanding — to structure analysis and identify potential interventions.
- Conduct deep‑dive technology watch reports into technologies of specific interest.
- Produce key outputs including:
- Monthly report updates
- Ad‑hoc technology reports
- Attendance and contribution to specific working groups
Knowledge & Experience
Mandatory
- Familiarity with Communications (C2) Systems, especially those used within the Land Tactical Domain.
- Awareness of, or strong interest in investigating:
- Tactical radios
- Waveforms
- Network infrastructure, protocols, and standards
- Cross‑domain security solutions
- Tactical user equipment
- Strong report‑writing skills, including the ability to contribute to technical reports in collaboration with military and civilian stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience applying structured systems‑of‑systems thinking, particularly in analysing and assessing relevant capabilities.
Duration: 4 months
Day Rate: £650-675 per day Inside IR35
Clearance: Active UKSV SC or DV required; candidates must also pass BPSS
