About the Role
Our client, a leading engineering organisation within the defence sector, is looking for a Ground Trials Engineer to join their growing engineering team.
This is an exciting opportunity to support the planning, coordination and delivery of a wide range of ground-based engineering trials and test activities for complex defence systems. Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you'll contribute to the safe development, verification and validation of advanced products throughout the project lifecycle.
The role offers exposure to a variety of technical disciplines, providing an excellent opportunity for engineers with practical testing experience who are looking to broaden their skills within a highly regulated engineering environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, preparation and execution of ground trials and engineering test activities.
- Analyse, interpret and report technical data to support engineering decisions.
- Assist in developing and implementing test plans, procedures and safety documentation.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, safety, project and customer teams to ensure successful trial delivery.
- Identify technical issues during testing and contribute to effective solutions.
- Produce clear technical reports and communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with relevant quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of trial processes and engineering practices.
About You
We're looking for an engineer with a practical approach, strong analytical skills and a passion for testing and problem solving.
You'll ideally have:
- Experience working within a test, trials or engineering environment.
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical information clearly.
- A proactive approach to identifying problems and implementing solutions.
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous, but is not essential:
- Mechanical, electrical or systems testing.
- Environmental, climatic, EMC or product qualification testing.
- Safety engineering, risk assessment or compliance within regulated industries.
- Defence, aerospace or other highly regulated engineering sectors.
- Test equipment, data acquisition and technical reporting.
- Project or engineering lifecycle processes.
