The Opportunity
Due to continued growth across our project delivery function, we are seeking motivated Project Planners and Project Controllers to join a collaborative team supporting the successful delivery of complex engineering and technology programmes.
We are interested in candidates with varying levels of experience and have opportunities available from intermediate through to senior level. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your project controls expertise while working closely with programme managers, engineering teams and key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and manage project schedules across a portfolio of engineering programmes.
- Monitor project performance, identifying risks, issues and emerging trends that may impact delivery.
- Support programme reviews by providing accurate schedule, cost and resource analysis.
- Establish and maintain project baselines, ensuring effective change control processes are followed.
- Conduct schedule analysis, including critical path assessment and project performance reporting.
- Produce project controls metrics and management information to support decision-making.
- Facilitate risk and opportunity assessments, including schedule impact evaluations where required.
- Support forecasting activities and contribute to programme cost and schedule reviews.
- Work closely with project managers and functional teams to ensure plans remain realistic, achievable and aligned to programme objectives.
- Contribute to proposal and bid activities by supporting the development of project plans, schedules and delivery strategies.
Skills & Experience
- Experience in project planning, scheduling or project controls within a complex engineering environment.
- Ability to develop and maintain project schedules ranging from detailed task-level plans to high-level programme milestones.
- Understanding of project structures such as Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), Cost Breakdown Structures (CBS) and Organisational Breakdown Structures (OBS).
- Experience analysing project performance data, including schedule, resource and cost information.
- Knowledge of critical path analysis, earned value management (EVM) and schedule risk assessment techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Experience using project planning and project controls tools such as Primavera P6, SAP, Oracle-based solutions or similar platforms.
- Understanding of baseline management, governance and change control processes.
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and work within cross-functional teams.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Understanding of resource planning and resource-loaded schedules.
Desirable Experience
- Experience supporting Estimate at Completion (EAC) or forecast reviews.
- Knowledge of quantitative risk analysis and scenario modelling.
- Previous experience within aerospace, defence, advanced engineering or other highly regulated industries.
- Familiarity with programme and portfolio-level planning methodologies.
