We’re seeking an experienced Calibration Project Lead to oversee all calibration activities, ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015, and drive continuous improvement across our clients calibration department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage calibration activities, processes, and procedures to meet industry standards and customer requirements
  • Support governance and maintenance of ISO 9001:2015 Management systems, including conducting systematic audits and ensuring compliance
  • Calibrate a wide range of measuring equipment such as gauges, CMMs, laser trackers, flow meters, and electronic instrumentation in temperature-controlled environments
  • Manage relationships with third-party accredited calibration laboratories and OEMs for onsite and offsite calibration needs
  • Produce and analyze KPIs, reports, and quality performance metrics, leveraging tools like histograms and Pareto charts
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize calibration processes, enhance accuracy, and reduce costs
  • Collaborate with departmental leaders for procurement, process improvement, and integration of industry-standard quality processes such as MSA studies
  • Maintain detailed calibration records, contractual documentation, and inspection reports
  • Lead internal and external audits, including risk-based assessments, and represent calibration in management reviews
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to calibration and measurement teams, fostering a culture of quality and excellence

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience with ISO 9001:2015 or equivalent management systems
  • Strong knowledge of calibration methods, measurement systems, and industry standards (BS, EN, DIN, ISO)
  • Experience calibrating diverse measurement equipment, including gauges, metrology tools, CMMs, laser trackers, and electronic instrumentation
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and GD&T documentation
  • Excellent analytical, dimensional measurement, and quality control skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

Nice to Have Skills:

  • Experience working in the Marine and Defence sectors
  • Certification as an ISO 9001:2015 auditor
  • Knowledge of NDT equipment and advanced measurement methodologies
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AQAP, Lloyds Rules, and Defence Standards

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or equivalent education)
  • Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline with practical calibration and quality control experience
  • Track record in engineering environments with high-tolerance component calibration and measurement
  • Previous leadership experience managing calibration or Quality teams
