Mechanical Design Engineer – Cambridge

We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing advanced RF, microwave, aerospace, defence and telecommunications products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design precision mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.

  • Develop lightweight, thermally efficient enclosures, heatsinks and structural assemblies.

  • Conduct thermal and structural analysis (FEA/CFD) to validate designs.

  • Work closely with RF, electronics and manufacturing teams to optimise product performance.

  • Produce engineering drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.

  • Support prototype builds, testing, production introduction and engineering change activities.

  • Drive design for manufacture, assembly, reliability and cost reduction.

Requirements

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

  • Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks.

  • Experience designing precision mechanical assemblies.

  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and GD&T.

  • Knowledge of PCB integration, EMI shielding and engineering drawing standards.

  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Desirable

  • Experience within aerospace, defence, telecoms, space or other high-reliability industries.

  • Knowledge of RF/microwave products, waveguides or high-frequency systems.

  • Experience with FEA, CFD or thermal analysis tools.

  • Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and engineering change processes.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge technology from concept through to production within a highly collaborative engineering environment.
