Mechanical Design Engineer – Cambridge
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an innovative engineering team developing advanced RF, microwave, aerospace, defence and telecommunications products.
Key Responsibilities

Design precision mechanical components and assemblies using SolidWorks.

Develop lightweight, thermally efficient enclosures, heatsinks and structural assemblies.

Conduct thermal and structural analysis (FEA/CFD) to validate designs.

Work closely with RF, electronics and manufacturing teams to optimise product performance.

Produce engineering drawings, BOMs and manufacturing documentation.

Support prototype builds, testing, production introduction and engineering change activities.

Drive design for manufacture, assembly, reliability and cost reduction.
Requirements
-
Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar.

Strong 3D CAD skills, ideally SolidWorks.

Experience designing precision mechanical assemblies.

Good understanding of manufacturing processes, materials and GD&T.

Knowledge of PCB integration, EMI shielding and engineering drawing standards.

Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Desirable

Experience within aerospace, defence, telecoms, space or other high-reliability industries.

Knowledge of RF/microwave products, waveguides or high-frequency systems.

Experience with FEA, CFD or thermal analysis tools.

Familiarity with PDM/PLM systems and engineering change processes.
