Simulator Engineer

Location: Hertfordshire based - On-site 4 days per week

Copello are partnering with a leading defence organisation in the search for a Simulator Engineer. 

The Opportunity

As a Simulator Engineer, you’ll become part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for the operation, maintenance and ongoing development of a specialist facility.

The facility combines real weapon hardware with real-time simulation and physical test equipment, allowing complex missile systems to be tested and evaluated without the need for an actual missile firing. 

You’ll work across a variety of equipment including multi-axis flight motion simulators, antenna positioning systems, control systems and specialist test hardware.

The role is varied and highly practical, giving you exposure to multiple engineering disciplines including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, control and simulation systems.

The Role

Your responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across simulator  equipment.
• Diagnosing faults and supporting the recovery of equipment following breakdowns.
• Reading and interpreting mechanical and electrical engineering drawings.
• Supporting equipment upgrades, modifications and obsolescence programmes.
• Assisting with the installation, commissioning and acceptance of new or modified equipment.
• Helping improve equipment reliability, availability and maintainability.
• Using a methodical approach to investigate unfamiliar or complex engineering issues.
• Working closely with experienced engineers and technical specialists across the wider facility.
• Ensuring simulator and test equipment remains safe, reliable and operational.

This is a hands-on engineering position, with physical activity forming a regular part of the role. Some tasks may also require working at height.

What We're Looking For

The client is particularly interested in engineers with a strong practical background and experience in one or more of the following:

• Hydraulics or servo-hydraulic systems
• Electro-mechanical equipment
• Control systems
• Motion control or servo systems
• Mechanical and electrical fault-finding
• Interpreting engineering drawings
• Workshop-based engineering and use of hand/electrical tools
• CAD experience, particularly Creo, would be advantageous

We're open to candidates from a variety of engineering backgrounds, including:

• Mechanical Engineering
• Electrical / Electronic Engineering
• Mechatronics
• Robotics
• Aerospace Engineering
• Or another relevant engineering discipline

Qualifications such as a degree, HNC/HND or engineering apprenticeship would be considered.

Security Requirements

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be British Citizens or Dual UK Nationals holding British citizenship.
